About Sponsored Research

Sponsored research, in general, refers to faculty research projects that receive funding from external sources. These include grants from local foundations to major awards from international organizations. Our office primarily helps faculty members and their research project teams find funding and manage aspects of their projects.

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs also holds an annual internal grant competition for full-time, tenure-track faculty members and offers .

Finding Funding: Sharing and Posting Opportunities

We manage Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÔøµÀÈËÐþ»ú’s access to the SPIN database, the world’s largest database of sponsored funding opportunities. We also maintain a list of grant-awarding organizations and share information about funding opportunities and deadlines.

Securing Awards: Grant and Proposal Application Assistance

Research grants are highly competitive. The grant-writing and communication expertise of our office staff helps faculty members successfully apply for grants and other awards by providing proposal writing and editing services. Additionally, we help ensure that researchers meet all the criteria needed for a successful grant application.

We’ve helped our faculty members secure funding from prestigious foundations and programs such as:

– National Endowment for the Humanities
– National Science Foundation
– National Institutes of Health
– U.S. Department of Education

Managing Awards: Project Management, Budget and Compliance Assistance

When a faculty member receives a grant or award, the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÔøµÀÈËÐþ»ú Office of Research and Sponsored Programs helps design and maintain budgets, communicates with funding partners on the researchers’ behalf, ensures compliance with regulations throughout the process and helps with final reporting.

Training and Consulting

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs offers one-on-one consultations with current and potential researchers and investigators. We also offer occasional training and educational workshops about funding, proposals, award management and other research-related topics.
